PRE-PLACEMENT and/or PRE-ACCESS TESTING
Pre-placement drug and alcohol testing is done as part of a hiring process and is designed to screen applicants for the presence of illicit substances before they are hired. This is a process frequently found in industries which are safety sensitive or safety critical and are done to ensure continued workplace safety. Testing is done to help mitigate risk which may result from substance abuse and the inherent behaviours such as substance use in the workplace, intoxication or impairment while on the job, or decreased productivity due to absences related to substance use.
Pre-access drug and alcohol testing is done in advance of an individual being allowed entry to a work site. This testing is done primarily in industries which are safety sensitive or safety critical and where work site safety must be maintained.
Testing is completed using a standard panel of substances, including alcohol.
Based upon the needs of the organization, individual substances can be added to requisitions and/or new panels can be created to specifically include a custom list of substances.
All positive test results are confirmed using GC/MS, LC/MS/MS or other recognized confirmatory testing methods. A test result is not considered positive and reportable until it has been confirmed through confirmatory testing methods and has undergone review by a Certified Medical Review Officer.
