Occupational Zinc Exposure Testing for Corporations & Individuals

Overview

Alliance Medical Monitoring Inc. provides occupational zinc exposure testing for corporations and individuals.

Zinc toxicity can occur through inhalation, oral exposure (ingestion) and dermal (skin) exposure.
Symptoms of zinc toxicity can develop immediately due to acute exposure or prolonged exposure. 

Symptoms may include:

  • Anemia
  • Body pain
  • Burning sensations
  • Convulsions
  • Cough
  • Fever and Chills
  • Kidney damage
  • Low blood pressure
  • Metalic taste in mouth
  • Nausea
  • No urine output
  • Pancreas damage
  • Rash
  • Shock, collapse
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach cramps
  • Vomiting
  • Watery or bloody diarrhea
  • Yellow eyes and/or skin

Although these are the most common symptoms of lead poisoning, individuals may have other symptoms, no obvious symptoms, or they may have non-specific or subtle symptoms which they attribute to something else.

Occupations/Industries most at risk of lead exposure include:

  • Mining
  • Smelting
  • Welding
  • Purifying of zinc, lead and cadmium ores
  • Steel production
  • Metal manufacturing (Brass, bronze, galvanized metals, machine parts)
  • Mechanics
  • Rubber manufacturing
  • Paint manufacturing (also painting)
  • Working with glass and ceramics
  • Working with dyes
  • Coal burning
  • Burning of waste

ALLIANCE ZINC TESTING PROGRAM

Alliance provides a comprehensive zinc testing program which can be customized to the needs of an organization and which is governed by a customized Consent for Release of information.

The program is overseen by a Specialist in Occupational Medicine who will review all test results and provide the necessary provincial and medical reporting as well as referrals where required.
